Teachers and Parents
From: Laura Bresko, Founder & Publisher
Since 1997 our company has published numerous
educational software programs used by teachers across the
nation.
Sometimes teachers and parents like
yourself ask me how I got into educational software publishing.
Here's how:
My great-grandmother was an English as a Second Language (ESL)
teacher. She taught English to all the Norwegian immigrants
in New York City who showed up at Trinity Lutheran Church's
basement from 1888 until 1914 or so.
Her daughter, my grandmother, was a middle school guidance
counselor in New York City's District 20. My aunt taught high
school English at South Shore High School (also in New York
City) and then went on to the Curriculum Director's office
at the New York City Board of Education. Many of my great-aunts
and uncles were also teachers.
Also at New York City's District 20: my own amazing mother.
She has been a librarian and media specialist for over 30
years. A grant she wrote rewarded her school with a Computer
Curriculum Corporation (CCC) computer-assisted instruction
lab back in 1980 (CCC is now renamed NCS Learn, I think).
My mom oversaw the CCC pilot site in New York City for 15
years - that's how far ahead of the times she was! She let
me come in and work on the CCC computers, which shows you
how cool she was, too!
Not one to rest, today my mother is the library media specialist
at Jefferson Township High School in New Jersey. There she
continues to assist teachers and students in their educational
pursuits.
As you can see, I come from a long line of educators. When
it was my time to go into the classroom, the classroom came
to me, in the form of the PC Revolution. I have been making
and publishing educational materials since 1986. Though I
have classroom experience, my forte is developing educational
software for use in the classroom. I've found my groove in
publishing, combining my talents with my family tradition.
I hope my great-grandmother is proud of her legacy. And I
know you'll find that our products reflect a very long tradition
of excellence in my family. As a teacher or parent who cares
about the the education of your students and children, you
deserve the very best, and we are always striving to provide
it to you.
Sincerely,
Laura Bresko
